Hosted Left 4 Dead 2 Servers

I hate connecting to a Left 4 Dead 2 Server and getting a bunch of plugin junk loaded to ruin the experience. Naturally, I thought it'd be better to just host some servers of my own!

We are now running five Left 4 Dead 2 server instances. There are two ways you can connect to these servers:

Server Hardware Upgraded

We have undergone a drastic upgrade, from $300 worth of components in 2012 to a very awesome system that gives us a lot of room to grow. This will include more frequent rendering of Minecraft services, such as the map and the stats, along with hosting additional game services (like I was briefly doing before).

Unfortunately, we're not operating at 100% capacity just yet, due to some complications, and some additional time needed.

Updated Minecraft 1.14

Minecraft has been updated to v1.14. You'll have to go out to new terrain to see all of the newest content.

I'm not sure if this update works with the map rendering software. From reading the Github project for Mapcrafter, I'm suspecting that it's not 100% compatible. We'll have to find out over the next few days. At the least, you can find out where the newest content is using the existing map rendering!

Minecraft Map Updated

Since the Minecraft Overviewer still has yet to provide support for version 1.13, I've decided to migrate us over to a new map generator with a product called Mapcrafter. This generates something very familiar to what we had set up before, but has a bit different lighting.

You can access the map in the same location at

Thanks to Jmasie for the recommendation.

The map refreshes every day at 5 AM MST/MDT.

Server Migrated to New Location

Today, we had our server equipment migrated to a new physical location. The host was down from about 12:45 PM - 4:45 MDT.

Everything came back online automatically and looks normal. No problems were encountered during the server move.

In the weird event that you are unable to connect to the Minecraft server, but this website is loading, you may be having issues with caching the previous DNS records. Try forcing your DNS cache to update. Windows users can do this by executing the following:

ipconfig /flushdns

Overviewer Map Broken

Submitted by seifer44 on Wed, 01/30/2019 - 20:20

It appears that the Minecraft Overviewer that we are using is not updating correctly since we updated to 1.13. According to this GitHub issue, they are having some troubles trying to support it. I may look into another solution when I have some more free time, depending on if/when they get the new update to work.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Updated Minecraft to 1.13

The Aquatic update is finally out, and we've updated our server to the latest version! We have a backup just in case, so feel free to reach out to me if you encounter any problems.

It appears that we can update the world configuration and run an "optimized" version. I'll have to look into this further, will determine the benefits of it, and will convert our world sometime in the future, but I want to ensure we don't have any problems with this update before I make any changes like that.
